Michelle + Stephen Tuck

Today we talk with Michelle, this lady is a creative too with oodles of talent. When Michelle first contacted me, she had already started on her invitations. I fell in love with her delicate mountainscape illustration and it was key we incorporated that personality into her and Stephen's stationery. We paired her illustration with scripted names and printed them onto handmade deckled edge paper with a forest green envelope, creating a really romantic and whimsical finish.

How did you first meet?
Ha! We met on Tinder! Then met up in a bar in town.

How did the proposal go down?
Well, on our second date, we did a spot of questionably illegal fence jumping into abandoned earthquake damaged buildings in Christchurch. There is a particularly amazing mansion in the city centre with a big grand old stair case. We sat on that staircase and chatted until about 2am that night. On the night of the proposal about 18 months, he took me back into that building and popped the question.

What was your favourite detail of your wedding to plan (which bit was the most fun)?
Sounds corny, because this is a "Smitten with Love" interview, but I loved it when our wedding invites arrived! They were so perfect! I also loved working with the photographer Olga, from Wild & Grace. She is such a superstar! Being a photographer myself, I was so fussy on who to choose, and Olga did such an amazing job!

What did you find to be the most difficult part of wedding planning?
Organising people and the seating plan! I hate trying to manage people, but I'm very lucky my amazing sister-in-law thrives on that, and helped me out hugely!

Your top tip for any bride or groom to be?
Apart from the obvious "relax and enjoy your day", I would have to say, don't skimp on the things important to you, for me it was having an awesome photographer to capture the day (and we saved money else where, for example - we didn't have a wedding cake).

If you had to choose one song for the ceremony dance floor what would it be?
Haha I remember "John Denver - Take Me Home, Country Roads" was an absolute hit at our wedding, that song gets anyone dancing!
