Matt + Aimee

Aimee and Matt Smitten With Love

Here's a wee read for your weekend, tucked up warm in front of the fire and dreaming of the end of Winter!

Today we spotlight on Aimee and Matt's wedding, which took place earlier this year. Aimee won our first birthday giveaway in 2018 and we were stoked to create for her and Matt special keepsake vow cards with the most beautiful words! Just wait until you see the rest of their wedding, beautiful being the reoccurring word here!

If you haven't seen Aimee's photography work, you need to, you can check It out here - spoiler she is a crazy good photographer.

How did you first meet?

I actually first heard of Matt through a tarot reading I had done. The gypsy lady told me I was about to meet a man who had dark features, dark eyes and hair. Someone who is good with numbers, someone who is loyal and caring. 2 weeks later I meet Matt at my sisters 21st party. Obviously at the time I had no idea it was about him but here we are 8 years later!

How did the proposal go down?
After living in London for 2 years, Matt and I returned to our home town, New Plymouth. We decided we wanted to build our first home, so we crashed at our parents and house-sat at every opportunity to save as hard as we could. Matt proposed the very first day we were given the keys and walked through our front door. It was our home we had been designing and dreaming about since our return from London, 3 years in the making, so to have a proposal on top of that was very emotional and surreal. Little to my knowledge, Matt had organised with our Project Manager to have the keys earlier so he could set up a little picnic area where he arranged pillows, a throw, red roses, bottle of Moet and a delicious platter. He did extremely well.

What was your favourite detail of your wedding to plan (which bit was the most fun)?
I loved planning all the little details in particular the signs that sat around our cocktail bar and our table settings. I hand dyed all our table runners and they looked so perfect on our white trestle tables with brass candle holders. The day before the wedding when I walked into the marquee for the first time it instantly made me happy cry. Our wedding planner, Victoria Jayne, and florist, Pineapple Sage, had set it out to perfection and it was the best feeling to see it all come together so beautifully.

What did you find to be the most difficult part of wedding planning?
Transport logistics!! Our venue was amazing with the most incredible views but with it came a driveway that was very long, skinny and windy! There was limited parking and buses were too big to be able to turn around at the top so we had to organise mini shuttles for our guests instead. It was too much of a brain ache for me so I passed this job onto Matt!

Your top tip for any bride or groom to be?
It really does feel like your floating on cloud 9 on your wedding day so just remember to breathe and take it all in. Not just once tho, as many times as you possibly can. Be present in every moment, relax and ENJOY!

If you had to choose one song for the ceremony dance floor what would it be?
